Trophy Life
Have you ever noticed how stores that sell trophies and plaques always have their whole catalog of merchandise out on display in the store, and all the merchandise is usually engraved? Plus, the display versions are never just engraved with something like "Congratulations Jane Doe". They're always for seemingly real people or events, like "Top Salesman for North American Territory, Hoover Vacuums", or "2001 Fireman's Fund Ball", or "47th Annual Biff Masterson Memorial Golf Tournament Champion".
First of all, it seems like it would be a lot of trouble (and not inexpensive, since you wouldn't be able to use the blank merchandise anymore) to engrave so many pieces of merchandise just for the sake of putting it on display. And furthermore, who comes up with all these ideas for engravings? If I owned a trophy shop I doubt it would ever occur to me to engrave "Top Fundraiser for the Jane Gorman Animal Shelter Benefit" on a crystal trophy, just so that I could display it in my window.
