30 Coffins
So finally Google released a calendar application, which is just about as awesome as I anticipated. Actually, I've been playing with it for a while before its official beta launch this morning, and the honeymoon isn't over for me yet. This thing kicks major ass.
At the same time, however, it's days like today that make me feel kind of sad for products like 30 Boxes. I know how hard it is to produce something like they have, and they do still have a great product. It's different enough from Google's calendar that it might survive, but now that Google's in the market and has the added advantage of being integrated with killer apps like Gmail and the rest of the Google suite of products, it'll be a lot harder for 30 Boxes to compete.
Should be interesting to see how they tackle this obstacle and what direction their innovation takes. That's kind of a big problem for internet entrepreneurs in general these days. Chances are that no matter what idea you come up with, there are probably 3-5 other teams working on the same idea, and they're probably smarter and better funded. And one of them is probably Google.
